Dr. Allison Slade is a distinguished Integrative Health Educator, Coach, and Public Speaker, bringing 25 years of expertise in health, nutrition, exercise, and sports performance. With a B.S. in Kinesiology & Nutrition, an M.S. in Exercise Science & Health Promotion, a Doctoral Degree in Health Science, and a Mayo Clinic trained health coach. Dr. Slade's career showcases her profound commitment to fostering well-being.

 

Central to Dr. Slade’s philosophy is the belief that “Health is a state of mind; wellness is a state of being.” She emphasizes that our mental perspective profoundly influences how we perceive our health, highlighting the critical role of mindset in maintaining both physical and mental well-being. Furthermore, she asserts that true wellness encompasses a holistic approach to life, integrating physical, emotional, social, and spiritual dimensions to live fully and meaningfully.

 

Dr. Slade's journey is marked by resilience, having successfully navigated personal challenges, including raising an adopted son by herself, overcoming Lyme disease, and recovering from various athletic injuries. These experiences have deepened her dedication to empowering others to achieve optimal health and well-being.

 

Her multifaceted career includes roles as an educator, former accomplished competitive multi-sport athlete, college coach, strength and conditioning coach, and health and wellness business owner. For the past 20 years, she has taught at UC Santa Barbara and various community colleges, specializing in health education courses encompassing physical, psychological, personal, and community wellness. Her expertise includes nutrition, exercise, sports performance, healthy aging, and emotional well-being.

 

As an advocate for integrative health and wellness, Dr. Slade employs a holistic mind-body-spirit perspective in her educational sessions. She blends traditional healing practices with innovative health modalities to inform her approach, emphasizing the importance of merging health education with practical strategies for behavior change through health coaching. Her work focuses on the modifiable risk factors that prevent disease and assist in living a long, healthy life. One of her passions is stress-disease connection, highlighting the critical role of chronic stress management in overall health.

 

Driven by the principles of positive psychology, Dr. Slade is passionate about helping clients cultivate a positive mindset to foster their best health.
